Dogs playing... A lesson for the two-legged people, perhaps?

Pups at Play. A lesson for the two-legged people?

Can you draw a distinction between your work life and your personal life?

I know it can be difficult to separate the two, especially in trying economic times.  But a balance between work life and personal or home life is critical for the success of either.

I have to admit that my life isn’t always in perfect balance, but it’s something that I’m working at.  I doubt that there’s anyone who doesn’t waver around that balance point, at least a little, so I try not to beat myself up about it too much and, if you’re in the same boat, neither should you.

I’ve put up a section of this site that’s dedicated to balance in life.

This section, however, is all about things that aren’t work related.  You know, the fun stuff.  Down time, R & R, recharging the batteries, whatever you call it, it’s that time that isn’t committed to conquering the world of business.

So, what you’ll find here are things that I enjoy that aren’t directly tied to my business.  There’s a bit of overlap to be sure.  It’s a symptom of being an entrepreneur that hobbies do tend to become potential income sources, especially in the information era, but that’s not the intended focus.  Instead, I’m going to try my darnedest to keep it fun and informative for the sake of fun alone.

Oh, and by the way, if your idea of “fun and relaxation” is doing more work, I understand perfectly.  But maybe you need to look a bit beyond that, like I found I needed to, and see the world from a bit different angle.  It’s a challenge for the entrepreneurial spirit, to be sure, but I believe it’s both necessary and beneficial.

Please feel free to leave comments or send me notes about what you do when you’re not working.  I’m thinking it might be fun to compile a list of non-work related activities for the more “work heavy” of us to gain inspiration from.

Anyway, drop a note about your off-time activities.  Off-time… that’s when you’re not working, remember?    Good, just checking.
